The Power of YES!

This summer WE MADE A MOVIE. This is actually the third feature film that I have been a part of but by far the one I have been most intimately involved in. During pre-production, I asked if I could consult in the art department. After sharing some of my ideas and vision my movie partners asked if I would be interested in being the Production Designer. I said YES. Saying YES is a big part of my Elijah Project journey. It started with saying YES to co-write Catching Faith in 2014 and this summer saying YES allowed me to go on a creative adventure like no other.

Once I was commissioned as production designer I set out to build a team. The YES mentality ended up surpassing my wildest dreams. My good friend Cindy began to send me potential contacts in Louisville, KY and one person, company, artist after another said YES. It took seeds of faith for me to step out. It required courage on my part because I had to get over my hang ups about asking for help. Sometimes I would literally pace in my office to get the guts up to call a new lead. The first few words were awkward and scary but the product was phenomenal. The synergy between my faithful ask and the faithful YES on the other side was palpable.

This experience has garnered many new friendships. It provided a vehicle for so many people to share their story of heartache and victory with me. It allowed me to share the wonderful ministry of so many faithful Christ-Follower’s living and working in the Louisville area. I don’t want to leave anyone out but I must thank the community partners from WaterStep; Springdale Church; MillCreek Baptist Church; Louisvillicious; J Elizabeth Designs; Modern Trouseau; Bullitt Central School District; St. Matthews Fire and Rescue; Bullitt Central Fire and Rescue; The Olmsted; Private Home Owners; and so many more.

One of the most valuable lessons I learned about the power of YES is that as much as the contribution of art meant to me, the artist gained just as much back. If you have an opportunity to try something new; allow a new person into your life or share your art with the world - Say YES! When you say yes to something little and it will quickly multiply.

My advice is: SAY YES!

All you need to say is simply ‘Yes’ or ‘No’; anything beyond this comes from the evil one.
